The z17 introduces the Network Express Adapter, FICON Express32-4P Adapter, and the Data Processing Unit (DPU). While these components are well recognized, their effects on channel performance analysis is less widely understood. In this presentation, I will first briefly introduce the z17 channel architecture then dive into performance analysis for this architecture, including relevant components, metrics, and key nuances.
