Assembler Language programs often need to be enhanced and upgraded. We will discuss several classes of techniques that can be used to improve the performance, organization, and maintainability of your applications:
- Improving application performance by using existing instructions more effectively, and by taking advantage of recent enhancements to the z/Architecture instruction set.
- Reducing the number of required base registers through simple forms of program reorganization, and by making more effective use of existing base registers.
- Enhancing program reliability, understandability, and maintainability through simple program structuring techniques, including the use of the Structured Programming Macros in the HLASM Toolkit.
