Letter From Nominating Committee Chair, Scott Fagen
As you probably well know, at every summer SHARE conference, the organization holds elections for positions on the Board of Directors. This summer is a major election, where we will elect all officers, and some directors at large positions. Per the SHARE Bylaws, the Immediate Past President chairs the Nominating Committee, which will set the slate for the election to be held at the SHARE conference in Pittsburgh in August. The Nominating Committee is seeking candidates to participate in the governance and future direction of SHARE, and members to join the Nominating Committee to help vet those candidates. The committee interviews the candidates to determine who might best serve the organization. This process also serves as an opportunity (for both committee members and candidates) to better understand the organization and its goals. Finally, the committee sets the slate for the election. The members vote to elect the most qualified candidates from that slate.
Serving on the SHARE Board of Directors provides a unique chance to participate at an executive level with a storied organization that has been at the forefront of IT user groups for over 70 years, engaging with others on issues that are different than your normal day-to-day work as well as having a hand in setting the direction for the organization. If you are interested in running for office, serving on the Nominating Committee, or have any questions about the process, please contact me at sfagen@share.org.
Thank you for your support.
Scott Fagen
Immediate Past President / Nominating Committee Chair
