Linux Project

The Linux Project exists to provide a forum for education and information exchange relating to the Linux operating system running on IBM z Systems and x86 platforms. The primary focus of the project includes:

  • Existing and future technologies
  • Planning, implementation and operation of Linux systems
  • Establishing a network of people within the project to share expertise and advice

Topics and sessions are built to provide practical education and training to all technical levels of attendees. These topics include (but are not limited to):

  • Introduction to Linux for the newbie including hands-on experience
  • Installation, configuration, and maintenance of Linux
  • Exploitation of hypervisor facilities
  • Distribution specific information
  • Basic Linux services such SSH, Apache, and Samba
  • Networking and communications internally and externally with TCP/IP and related hardware
  • Performance issues and tuning options
  • Work with and influence IBM, as well as distributors and vendors
  • Q&A sessions and open forum to allow for discussion of "hot topics"
