The MVS Open and Distributed Project focuses on the services and interfaces that enable OS/390 and z/OS to participate in the processing of work on other platforms.
Specific components include, but are not limited to, z/OS UNIX, Open System Architecture, and Advanced Program to Program Communications (APPC/MVS). The Project also focuses on other leading edge, cross-platform technologies such as Autonomic Computing and Grid Computing. The concentration of this Project is related to the MVS side of these interfaces, that is, how to install and maintain the software as well as how to manage it.
Other areas of concentration are with applications, products and utilities that work with these services.
