The Confluence of Data Security Challenges
Patrick Gray, IT Security Consultant
Tuesday, March 1
The Internet threat landscape has shifted. What used to be a playground for hackers, crackers, script kiddies and packet monkeys is now a borderless abyss of organized crime fueled by financial gain and state sponsored forays into our critical infrastructures. Patrick Gray, a 20-year veteran of the FBI, will explore the current threat landscape by highlighting the newest cyber criminals and examining the latest tactics employed by these predators. Gray will address how organized criminal groups, state-sponsored groups, botmasters and hackers interact with this new crime element utilizing incredible technologies and how we can prepare to stave off these relentless attacks and protect our critical infrastructures. The focus will include public sector agencies, advanced persistent threats, IoT ventures and Nation State forays into our critical infrastructures.
About Patrick Gray
Patrick Gray is an IT Security Consultant and the former Principal Security Strategist at Cisco Systems (San Jose, Calif.) and Director of XForce Operations, Office of the Chief Technology Officer, Internet Security Systems, Inc. (ISS). Gray served in the United States Marine Corps and spent 20 years as a Special Agent within the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Upon his retirement from the FBI, he joined Internet Security Systems and was one of the creators of the X-Force Internet Threat Intelligence Center.

While in the FBI's Intelligence Division, he was responsible for global counterintelligence investigations. After a regional transfer, Gray became a member of one of the FBI’s first Regional Computer Crimes Squads as well as its elite Computer Assistance Response Team (and was eventually assigned to investigate the September 11 terrorist attacks).
Ever involved, Gray helped grow the Atlanta Chapter of InfraGard into the largest chapter nationally. He also continues to work closely with the FBI and other U.S. government agencies and has served as an advisor to the National Infrastructure Advisory Council for the Department of Homeland Security. In addition, Gray is board-certified by the American College of Forensic Examiners International and is a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, the Information Systems Audit and Control Association, the Information Systems Security Association and the International Information Systems Forensic Association.
