This year marks an exciting milestone in the history of mainframe virtualization. In January 1967, production use began on the CP-40, a research system on which MIT and IBM researchers first tested the concept of virtual memory.
Like most technologies, the mainframe continues to evolve to meet the growing demands of business today. While some consider the mainframe to be old technology, the fact is that in many cases, this platform has surpassed other platforms.
