Monday SHAREnews Daily President's Corner Letter

Welcome to SHARE in San Francisco! We have a great program lined up for you. As always, the best in enterprise IT can be found right here with the nearly 500 sessions being presented by more than 300 speakers. Our keynote address on Monday morning presented by Henry Givray, President and CEO of SmithBucklin Corporation, will share foundational principles and concepts around leadership for your everyday use. In Tuesday’s keynote, Doug Balog, General Manager for System z at IBM Corporation, will discuss the new era of computing and how the rapid evolution of cloud, big data and social technologies deliver opportunities for businesses and organizations to reinvent products, operations and business models.

SHARE is proud to recognize and support the next generation of enterprise IT professionals. In partnership with CA Technologies, we are pleased to bring you the Mainframe Academy Scholarship Program. Congratulations to Ahamed Ali Tousif and Victoria Wixon, the most recent recipients of the Mainframe Academy Scholarship. We also recognize future enterprise computing talent with the support of IBM Corporation and Compuware through the SHARE Academic Award for Excellence, which will be presented at SHARE in Boston this August. If you or someone you know would like to apply, visit www.SHARE.org/AcademicAward for details.

When you return to work, think about how you can apply the information you have gleaned and the contacts you have made to your daily responsibilities. If you had a great week and want to come back for more technical education at SHARE in Boston, August 11-16, we’ve found that the best way to build a case to return is to share the documented findings and insights you have gained from past SHARE events.

Did you know the benefits of SHARE spread beyond our events? If you like what you hear in San Francisco, be sure to explore www.SHARE.org for year-round member opportunities such as webinars, access to the SHARE member center, industry influence, the opportunity to take your membership to the next level with SHARE Select, and much more. You can also stay in touch with the connections you make in San Francisco on SHARE’s social media channels!

SHARE is a community of IT professionals and without the dedication of our volunteers we would not be able to provide this comprehensive program to you. If you see a ribbon-wearing volunteer, please thank them. If you’d like to join the SHARE volunteer community, please visit www.SHARE.org/VolunteerOpportunities

We are also always thankful for the support of our Strategic Partner, IBM; and our Premier Sponsors, EMC Corporation, Hitachi Data Systems, Innovation Data Processing, Luminex, Oracle and UNICOM Global for their continued commitment to SHARE. Be sure to visit our exhibitors and sponsors at the SHARE Technology Exchange Expo and check out the Lunch & Learns (where our sponsors host lunch) and Vendor Sponsored Presentations.

This week will be full of interesting conversations and outstanding presentations. I hope that each of you will have a personally and professionally rewarding experience. Enjoy!
