Sunday/Monday SHAREnews Daily President's Corner Letter

By Janet L. Sun, SHARE President

Welcome to SHARE in Anaheim! It’s going to be an exciting week, and we have a great program lined up for you. There are nearly 600 sessions being presented by more than 300 speakers representing over 100 companies. Our Monday keynote presented by Jason Dorsey will provide insights on how to lead, communicate and innovate across the four generations that are currently working side-by-side. In Tuesday’s keynote, Brian Gallagher will share his views on the trends that will impact all of us including Big Data and Cloud.

In March at SHARE in Atlanta, we asked what you needed to know about Big Data. This week, we’re pleased to respond to your requests. We have two full days of content on Monday and Tuesday that will introduce you to the challenges of Big Data and some of the solutions that are available. The lineup will include presentations from IBM and EMC, a panel discussion, and user experience sessions.

Please join us this Wednesday at our Focus Group on managing mobile devices. We will be identifying topics on BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) and developing mobile applications that we will use to plan a schedule of sessions dedicated to enterprise mobility for SHARE in San Francisco next February.

Last year, SHARE launched a new membership option called SHARE Select, an annual subscription that provides unlimited access to SHARE’s library of recorded content consisting of recorded sessions, webcasts, multi-day training courses and SHARE Live! Check out www.SHARE.org/Select for more information.

Be sure to check out our newly revised SHARE web site at www.SHARE.org. We believe that it is easier to search and navigate, and it offers more options for collaboration than ever before. You will find the SHARE Content Center more readily available and searchable on the new site.

When you return to work, think about how you can leverage the information you have gleaned and the contacts you have made this week. If you had a great week and want to come back, the best way to return is to build a case to document and share the findings and insights you have gained. Also, consider getting involved with one of our Projects before you leave. It’s a great way to stay in touch with others with common interests, and can provide even more benefits that you can share with your colleagues back at the office.

All that we do is possible due to the efforts of our SHARE volunteers. SHARE is a community of IT professionals and without their dedication we would not be able to provide this program to you. If you see a ribbon-wearing volunteer, please thank them. If you would like to join the ranks of SHARE volunteers, please talk with any ribbon-wearer. We’d be delighted to have you as a part of our team!

We will be announcing the Academic Award for Excellence winners this week. SHARE recognizes the importance in identifying the next generation of enterprise IT professionals and are pleased to help provide support to students with an interest in enterprise
computing.

We are always grateful for the support of our Strategic Partner, IBM; and our Premier Sponsors EMC Corporation, UNICOM Global International, Oracle , Hitachi Data Systems, Innovation Data Processing, Luminex, and MainframeZone. Be sure to visit our
exhibitors and sponsors at the SHARE Technology Exchange Expo.

Let the conference week begin! Be sure to take full advantage of what SHARE has to offer and enjoy the conference!  It will be a great week full of fascinating conversations and outstanding presentations. I hope that each and every one of you will have a
personally and professionally rewarding experience over the next week.
