Message from SHARE: The Connections We Make

By Donna Hudi, SHARE Inc. Executive Director

Women are powerful. Just ask Susan Wojcicki, CEO of YouTube; Virginia Rometty, CEO of IBM; Meg Whitman, CEO of HPE, and this list goes on... While women have made strides in technology, there continues to be so much room for growth. Data shows that, even at the collegiate level, women are markedly absent from tech-based classes.

What is holding us back? How can we change this?

One problem women face is simply the lack of female peers in the industry — mentors from whom they can learn, leaders with whom they can share experiences, and peers to look to for guidance.

At SHARE®, we celebrate the diversity of voices that comprise our industry. Whether through mentoring programs, educational events or networking opportunities, we focus on connecting professionals with one another.

Through these connections, young women just kicking off their mainframe careers can tap into the wisdom of 20-year veterans. And 20-year veterans can become re-inspired by their incoming counterparts. This small goal, among our many as an organization, makes all the difference: It shows women and men alike that they are not alone in their experiences.

Donna Hudi, Executive Director of SHARE Inc., has over 20 years’ experience in technology at corporations like Charles Schwab and Harris Associates L.P. She has served as SHARE’s Executive Director since 2014.
