I'm a New Mainframe Developer - Can I Use My Favorite IDE?
As new non-traditional developers start to develop on the mainframe, they would want to use the tools/IDE’s like Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code, IntelliJ, Eclipse, Theia, Eclipse Che etc. that they are familiar with to develop the mainframe applications. So as an organization, you may be wondering how we can provide our developers the flexibility or choice to let them use the tools of they like and still ensure they have the same mainframe-oriented productivity enhancing capabilities? This session details the technologies/protocols of Language server protocol (LSP) and Debug Adapter protocol (DAP) that are becoming industry standards that allow different language editors and debuggers to be integrated into any IDE. The session will also explore/demo how the LSP and DAP can be implemented to provide mainframe productivity tools in different IDE’s and thus allowing developers to work with their choice of IDE/editor.-Venkat Balabhadrapatruni-Broadcom Inc
