New to z Systems is a 3-day program that will incorporate:

  • Demos and presentations;
  • Two keynote addresses (part of SHARE Atlanta);
  • Networking receptions (held Sunday, Monday and Tuesday);
  • And, admittance to one additional SHARE technical session on Wednesday afternoon.

SHARE's New to z Systems Program is open to individuals who are looking to develop basic z Systems skills quickly in order to start being effective in a new or existing job role. A basic understanding of the concepts of computing components such as processors, Operating Systems and software is required.

Upon completion of the New to z Systems program, attendees will:

  • Understand basic z Systems platform architecture and features.
  • Be familiar and comfortable with z Systems terminology and proper vocabulary.
  • Be able to have a conversation with an experienced z Systems technician.
  • Be comfortable using the z Systems interfaces, such as 3270, and be able to navigate without assistance.
  • Be familiar with SHARE, how it works and what type of education it has to offer.
  • Receive a certificate of completion.
