The Data Systems Program addresses the transaction processing, message flow and database management needs of Member installations and their attendees.
CICS Project The CICS Project is chartered to provide an exchange forum for users of the IBM CICS family of products and their ancillary services. The goals of this project include providing the membership with technical education, keeping them informed of new developments within the CICS family of products, promoting dialogue between members and IBM and among the membership itself, and submitting requirements and papers to IBM on technical needs and business directions in the CICS product line.
DB2 Project The DB2 project supports traditional topics such as: installation, tuning and performance, recovery, security, standards, tools and utilities, application and system considerations, continuous availability, automated operations, interoperability, and education. It also includes a spectrum of new and emerging topics such as: interacting with client-server systems, LAN / WAN connectivity, rightsizing, multimedia and other BLOB support, distributed processing across heterogeneous platforms, systems and network management as it relates to data availability and recoverability, object-oriented data design, GUI interfaces to DB2 data, massively parallel processing, data on the information super-highway, and data mining.
IMS Project The mission of the IMS project is to improve members' effectiveness by fostering an atmosphere of information sharing with a focus on all aspects of IMS and its interactions with the Enterprise Information Environment.
The goals are:
- Increase the knowledge and effectiveness of member IMS technical people
- Increase members' awareness of industry trends and directions with regard to IMS connectivity and use from other platforms.
- Communicate members' tactical and strategic concerns to SHARE and IBM
- Assist IBM in improving current and future products.
Websphere MQ Project (MQSeries) Websphere MQ is IBM's implementation of the Messaging and Queuing tier of its Networking Blueprint. It provides messaging and queuing services on many platforms from mainframes through servers to clients. It provides support for Commercial Messaging, Message Brokering, Workflow Computing, Cooperative Processing, Mail, Mobile Messaging, and much more.
The Websphere MQ Project presents sessions on all aspects of Websphere MQ including installation, implementation, maintenance, performance, tuning, and futures.
