    SHARE Academic Award for Excellence

    We are proud to announce the SHARE Academic Award for Excellence. Now in its fourth year, this award is a direct result of the importance in recognizing the next generation of enterprise technology professionals. This award showcases and rewards academic work that SHARE acknowledges as relevant to the future of enterprise computing.

    SHARE's Academic Award for Excellence will be awarded at SHARE in Boston, August 11-16, 2013.

    The next submission deadline is Friday, June 21, 2013.

    Award Criteria and Requirements

    The award is applicable to students and recent graduates enrolled full-time in high school, undergraduate or graduate university program focused on Information Systems, Enterprise Computing, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related concentration.

    TOPIC: Students should submit an academic-related enterprise information system project that could add value to an organization’s overall IT goals and mission. Example projects might include improving a process, increasing performance, improving productivity, or developing a new tool or application.

    Submissions must include:

    • Proof of student status or graduation within the last 12 months (from an accredited institution in North America)
    • Project abstract
    • Project write-up
    • Presentation: to be presented as a webcast post SHARE in Boston if selected as Grand Prize Winner
    • Optional: supplementary materials to demonstrate creativity (videos, photos, etc.)

    Award Levels and Prizes

    SHARE will offer three prize levels - Grand Prize, 1st Runner Up, and 2nd Runner Up. The Grand Prize winner will be recognized at the 2013 SHARE summer conference in Boston, MA. If the Grand Prize winner is not available to attend, the 1st Runner Up has the opportunity to attend.

    Grand Prize

    • $500 gift certificate to Amazon.com
    • 1 expense paid trip to 2013 SHARE summer conference
      (including airfare, lodging and meals; winner to present project on webcast)
    • Submission featured on SHARE.org a minimum of 6 months
    • Access to SHARE Online from 2013 summer conference recorded content for 6 months

    First Runner Up

    • $375 gift certificate to Amazon.com
    • Submission featured on SHARE.org a minimum of 6 months
    • Access to SHARE Online from 2013 summer conference recorded content for 6 months

    Second Runner Up

    • $250 gift certificate to Amazon.com
    • Submission featured on SHARE.org a minimum of 6 months
    • Access to SHARE Online from 2013 summer conference recorded content for 6 months

    Judging Process

    Entries will be awarded based on submission fulfillment, award criteria and requirements. Upon successful receipt of the 'Call for Entries' form and supporting documents, applicants will receive a confirmation email. Entries will be reviewed by the SHARE Academic Award Committee. This expert panel was chosen with extreme care to ensure a wide representation of experience; and includes representatives from the SHARE Board of Directors, IBM, and Compuware.

    Rules, Regulations and Eligibility

    • Must be at least 18 years of age by the submission deadline
    • Must have less than 2 years of professional IT experience
    • Must be a current student or recent graduate (within the last 12 months) from an accredited institution in North America
    • Only one submission per student will be accepted
    • Multiple individuals may contribute to a single project submission. Their participation should be noted in the submission. However, only the person submitting the entry will be eligible for prizes if the submission is selected
