Dramatic Improvements with IBM z/OS Tools: Here’s How HSBC Did It
Date and Time: Thursday, July 18, 11:00 a.m. ET
    Speakers:
Ted Caffarelli, Product Line Manager, CICS Tools, IBM Software Group and Joe Winchester, CICS Tools Architect and Master Inventor, IBM Software Group
Description: If you develop, test, deploy or manage applications for z/OS® or any of its subsystems such as CICS®, IMS™, DB2®, or WebSphere® MQ, you probably have a wide range of tools to help you, from multiple sources, each with a different look and feel. Using multiple tools causes numerous problems for IT. In addition to the increased learning curve, there’s the added complexity of different platforms and frameworks, with more subsystem connections and more sign-ons required.

Join this complimentary webcast to learn more about the IBM® z/OS Explorer and how it is helping to provide a consistent framework for Eclipse-based tools for the entire z/OS platform. Using HSBC as an example, we will also discuss the capabilities of IBM tools like CICS Interdependency Analyzer and File Manager. They can be blended seamlessly with CICS Explorer®, IMS Enterprise Explorer, and Rational® Developer for System z® to form a single, customized toolbox for all subsystems. We will also show you how in-house and third-party tools can participate, for even greater value.

Join us after the webcast for a live question-and-answer session. This webcast will also be available for replay after the event.

    IPv6 Basics
Date and Time: Thursday, July 25, 11:00 a.m. ET
Speaker: Laura Knapp, WW Business Consultant, AES
Description: As IPv6 becomes important to your business it is essential that you have a solid background to understand how to design, implement, and trouble shoot. This session provides the background for the next several sessions focusing on high level views of addressing, security, reliability and multicasting with IPv6. Discover options on how to integrate IPv6 into your existing IPv4 networks and some of the advances made by early implementers. This session gives you the background in these key areas:

    • Understanding the difference between IPv4 and IPv6
    • Highlights of integrating IPv6 into an existing IPv4 network
    • What applications are driving IPv6 deployment

Laura has 35 years IT experience with three major companies: Applied Expert Systems, IBM and Texas Instruments. Her focus was not just on  technology, but the overall processes required for an efficient IT ecosystem. Her years have spanned the general evolution of Information Technology from leased lines, to LAN technologies, the impact of the internet, and the changes resulting from technologies like Token-Ring, MPLS, ATM and IPv6. Not just focusing on core technologies she has also been evolved in the overall data center evolution with strengths in service management, cloud computing, virtualization and security issues ranging from virus scanners through integrated trusted identity and hack attack prevention.

While technology is a central theme Laura recognized early on that technology is not the end game but an enabler for new business initiatives. No matter how fantastic a technology may be unless it can provide concrete business benefits it will quickly fall by the wayside.
