As part of my personal philosophy to exceed client expectations, I was recently searching for a continuing education opportunity that would provide a thorough overview of Mainframe Systems so I could provide better client support. Thankfully, I discovered SHARE User Events – a conference that was extremely well organized and provided me with so much valuable information that it required me to spend a few days after the conference to document what I’d learned as a reference. The material presented over the course of the week was outstanding and the educators were extremely knowledgeable.
One of the primary benefits of attending SHARE is that the conference is structured so that you have the freedom to move from session to session, customizing your education around particular interests and needs from SHARE’s broad curriculum.
Not only did this afford me the opportunity to take in several diverse sessions, but I was also able to gather the insights and opinions of other attendees with varying backgrounds and responsibilities. Never have I experienced such collaboration among users. It would be very difficult to collect the same level of information I did from doing web research. You cannot place a value on this kind of peer-to-peer interaction as the benefits are so far reaching. SHARE’s culture encourages attendees to take in as much as possible during that week. And because of this, I felt confident returning to the office with an increased level of credibility in the eyes of my clients.
My manager also appreciated the benefits received from my attending SHARE. One of my primary reasons for attending was the well rounded Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) program presented that week. After SHARE, my manager noted that I was asking more complex questions. I think this delivers real value to the organization. In addition, I feel more confident and am excited about the professional contacts I gained through SHARE’s fantastic networking opportunities.
